Description
NOVOCS™ Solvents are low-viscosity, fast-evaporating silicone solvents specifically designed for use with platinum-cure silicones. They are ideal for thinning Psycho Paint® silicone paint-base, allowing it to be easily applied by brush or airbrush to cured silicone surfaces such as props, prosthetics, masks, and other special effects applications. NOVOCS™ solvents help achieve smooth, even coatings and can also be used to adjust paint flow and working time.
Two versions are available
- NOVOCS™ Gloss
and
- NOVOCS™ Matte
each producing a different surface finish.
When used with Psycho Paint®, NOVOCS™ Matte creates a flat, non-reflective appearance, while NOVOCS™ Gloss enhances shine and depth.
These solvents are engineered to evaporate quickly without leaving residues, ensuring high-quality, durable paint results.
Warning: NOVOCS™ Solvents are flammable liquids and vapors.
Keep away from open flames, sparks, heat, and other ignition sources. Always work in a well-ventilated area and follow standard precautions for handling flammable materials.
Instructions
Materials should be stored and used in a warm environment (73°F / 23°C). This material has a limited shelf life and should be used as soon as possible. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves and rubber gloves to minimize contamination risk.
Mix the A and B components of two component silicone sytems before adding NOVOCS™. Add the desired proportion of NOVOCS™ solvent to create a thinner silicone mixture which can be brushed or airbrushed onto the surface of a cured silicone casting.
Example Recommended Ratios For Use:
- When adding to Psycho Paint, add between 200%-400% NOVOCS™ solvent by weight
- When adding to Sil-Poxy, add between 300%-500% NOVOCS™ solvent by weight
Because no two applications are quite the same, a small test application to determine suitability for your project is recommended if performance of this material is in question.
